The purpose of this book is three-fold:
- To provide information about the causes and extent of the problems overwhelming the process of criminal justice in Connecticut;
- To explain why reform is long overdue and in our collective best interest; and
- To suggest reforms that are supported by empirical evidence from other states.
We are of the opinion that “The Justice Imperative” will represent a sea change in educating and informing the general public about our criminal justice dilemma and as a result of the research done for this book, we offer a list of recommendations that can, if implemented, have a huge impact on the levels of incarceration here in Connecticut.
